SUPPORTING THE CARE NEEDS OF ADULTS WITH LEARNING DIFFICULTIES, MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES & ELDERLY CLIENTS WHO DO NOT REQUIRE NURSING CARE
HISTORY & MISSION STATEMENT
HISTORY
Waverley was built in 1994 and designed for the purpose of providing care, support and daily living skills for residents with learning difficulties. The owner, Sara Gibson, was previously a Social Worker in the Lincolnshire area and then went on to become the manager of Interskill, a work based training centre run by Lincolnshire County Council sited on Louth Industrial estate. They produced various products for sale to the public, including, garden plants & materials (benches, paving slabs etc) as well as screen printing & woodwork crafts.
Sara left Interskill to open Waverley and many of the new residents were well known to her, from her previous work at Interskill, where they had been developing thier skills. Waverley was developed into a very personalised care establishment, focussing on the individual needs of each resident and their own interests / hobbies. This philosophy continues to this day and all residents are supported by Waverley's excellent staff team, many of whom have themselves worked at Waverley for over 15 years. This has created an unusually close-knit staff and resident relationship, which separates Waverley from many other care establishments, locally.
Waverley currently employs 9 staff, who are all fully qualified and trainied to NVQ levels, 2, 3, 4 & Registered Managers Award (RMA) and able to support a wide range of care needs for any individual. Staff promote independence, wherever possible, guided by the homes fully up to date care plans & risk assessments, which are regularly reviewed.
